The American Petroleum Institute’s 10th Edition is here. Is your organization prepared? Here is a short checklist of items to consider:
- Have you documented a Management of Change for Evaluating the changes of the 10th Edition?
- Have you documented a Risk Assessment for the upcoming changes to your QMS?
- Have you documented a gap analysis of the 10th Edition compared to your existing QMS?
- Have you considered the API as an “interested party,” including their requirements for your QMS?
- Have you considered API’s agreements (i.e., for the Monogram Program and APIQR) as legal requirements?
- Do you understand the content of these agreements?
- Have you performed Ethics training as required by these agreements? (See QSI University for our complementary Ethics Training course.)
- Are you aware that the API Advisories are external documents that fall under the requirements of Spec Q1, clause 4.4.4 Control and Use of External Documents?
- Are you aware of the legal, statutory and regulatory requirements associated with Trade Sanctions? Are you aware that these requirements may also be considered external documents as specified above in clause 4.4.4?
While these points may seem to be superficial, they are important to your successful understanding and implementation of API’s 10th Edition! QSI stands ready to help with a full toolkit of instructor-led online training, self-paced training, and gap analysis tools in our QSI store.
